Hello loved ones! It’s time again. Here are the songs that really got under my skin these last few months. Some are immediately adorable. You will play them over and over. Others are messier. But you’ll learn to love them too. Give this mix a little time. It’s got legs. Sure wish we could shake it together to a few of these stunners. But I feel contented to imagine you out there finding your own bliss. To a shiny new year! XO!

I think I got most of these uploaded to divshare–here, in case you still want hard copies.
That Bloc Party song takes me back to Fresh Salt circa 2005-05.
Awesome, Farrell! Can’t wait to listen. You are inspiring me to post a mix, as soon as I can figure out that Divshare limit thingy.
I don’t think I’m the only person who downloads these mixes and puts them on my phone (does that now count as a hard copy?) so I can be popular at parties because my absent internet friends give me great music. Thank you Farrell!
Dave! Download that 8 tracks app to your phone so you can play Farrell’s mixes plus many others!! Added bonus: follow people who make mixes you like. For instance, our dear Seroquel put this mix up a week ago, so I’ve already been enjoying it since then!! It just showed up in my feed of mixes I might like. And yup, I liked it!!
Thanks for throwing “Metal Detektor” on there. It reminded me what a great album Series of Sneaks is. At the time I don’t think I heard how much Cars are hovering over that record, but that connection seems apparent especially after your last mix with that great Cars track. I must have put “Advanced Cassette” on half a dozen mixes in the late-90s. Anyway, cool mix, again.
Farrell, I have to ask. Is Cleo taking a shit in that cover photo?
It’s funny you say that Bryan, cause after I posted it, I thought the same thing. But she wasn’t. Still, I like the idea of Cleo taking a tird on top of all this miserable snow we’ve had. On top of winter in general. It’s been so cold this year. And if today’s 10 predicted inches of snow is any indicator, we’ve got a ways still to go. Grrr. Brrr.
Oh, and to your comments about Bloc Party and Spoon. Yes, I heard both of those albums back in the day. But somehow those songs never really spoke to me at the time, till now. Funny what time does to one’s taste in music.
And to Trixie’s comments about 8tracks, yes, if you haven’t downloaded the app–which makes it so easy to play these mixes anywhere you get phone service–then you aren’t letting technology improve your life. It’s so easy. So helpful. Thank you 8tracks.
