Eastern architecture pt. 1

Staying in East Berlin for a week, I became increasingly drawn to Cold War architecture, and I began to sense a spirituality in the stark pragmatism of structure, which tends to feature little in the way of design.

That’s not to say that you don’t see flourishes of design from time to time:

Of course, things have changed in the East, and the people who live in the buildings have all of the modern conveniences of the West:
