It’s 1 a.m. and I forgot to write a post for today, so here’s the placeholder: a compilation of amazing close calls on video. There’s only one that I think might be obviously faked — what do you think?

I think the overwrought maxi-techno is obviously faked.
Funny, Dave ;) I think it’s the tennis ball balancing on the net. There’s no way something can be hit with that kind of velocity and then just stop in its tracks.
I once dropped a nickel that landed on its edge. Actually it hit the ground, bounced, began to spin and finally came to a stop resting on its edge. It happened in the McDonald’s. I pointed it out to my dad. He looked under the table, saw the nickel on its edge and called me a liar. Scarred me for life. Probably didn’t scar me as much as half of the close calls depicted in the video.
I think the huge machinery crashing on top of the car just after the guy gets out is fake-o. The tennis ball is highly unlikely, but I could see it happening.
The techno, on the other hand, is completely authentic. It’s not well known, but techno’s roots go deep into the Mississippi delta, where field hands used to do call-and-response on their homemade, handcrafted synthesizer key-tars.
3: I once saw my uncle drop a cigarette that landed standing straight up. Also, I like how you call it “The McDonald’s.”
2, 4: I think both of those are real. I vaguely remember coverage of the tennis one from when it happened. As for the heavy thing falling, I’m not sure how you could fake that…? It would be amazing photoshoppery – from the puff of smoke / dust coming out of the car, to the person rolling just after the impact. I dunno, could be fake, but it’s a heck of a fake, if so.
I totally had a techno happen to me one time. No one was around, so people rarely believe me when I tell them the story.
Anyhoozle, I thought the one with the bank robbers was most likely faked, but the rest were real…,
