How to make a s’more

Here’s how to make a s’more if you don’t have a campfire, marshmallows, graham crackers or Hershey’s chocolate. The dirty little secret is: You don’t really need any of those things!

Step 1: Get some mini Nilla Wafers. You should have these on hand already, but if you don’t, just buy them.

Step 2: Get some Ghirardelli chocolate with caramel in it. Same as above.

Step 3: Lay out two Nilla Wafers like they’re hamburger buns.

Step 4: Put one quarter of the Ghirardelli chocolate square on the Nilla buns, like a little burger.

Step 5: If you like, you can put a little cheese on your “burger.” This seems gross to me, but Swells was a fan.

Step 6: Feed a burger / s’more to Godzilla.

And that’s it!

Yum, s’mores!

It’s been a wonderful three-day weekend here. How was yours?

  1. We had an excellent weekend here. I’m looking over your steps but sadly I do not have a Godzilla — can you make s’mores without one? I never knew Hershey’s chocolate was a canonickal ingredient, I’ve always used whatever chocolate was to hand.

  2. (Speaking of cheese and chocolate: everybody was very happy about it when at my birthday last year, I served a cheese plate with squares of dark chocolate mixed among the different flavors of cheese and the crackers. I think they’re a pretty natural combo.)

  3. RB says:

Delicious! But whose veiny arm is that holding Godzilla? That chick needs to eat s’more s’mores!

  4. ks says:

That’s a fine looking veiny arm! And those “burgers” look really good, but I have to wonder what Godzilla was doing that made him think cheese on a “s’more” was a good idea. Well, what do I know?

  5. J-Man says:

Godzilla is very sophisiticated, VERY euro.

  6. swells says:

Trust me, or trust Ween–chocolate and cheese is a natural combo, and the s’mores were delish!

  7. ks says:

I can get behind choc. and cheese, but caramel-filled choc. and cheese…? Really? I mean, I hate to be a culinary nay-sayer, and I DO totally respect the fact that you used the 60% cacao squares and all, but with all the apparent herbs & such on and in the cheese…just sounds like “stoner food” combos. (‘swhat I’m saying.) But I DO love the sweet/savory combo, so you can bet I’ll be checking. This. OUT.

  8. ScottyGee says:

The s’mores, the Godzillas, and the veiny arms were all delicious! Thanks for hosting such a delightful little gathering.

  9. Oh yeah, I was not noticing the caramel content. That sounds like the wrong direction to me.

  10. LP says:

ks and TMK: ‘Zackly! Caramel and cheese? But Swells swears by it, and she is the arbiter of all that is tasty, hip and happening.

    ScottyGee: Godzilla sends kisses.

  11. swells says:

Actually, I guess I should clarify: I do think they might be better with a plain cream cheese (as opposed to an herbed goat) and with plain chocolate (w/o caramel). But I am flexible and we were working with what we had . . . and the resultant taste was nothing if not exciting.

swells really likes banana tea. hot tea. flavored like a banana.
    i’m just sayin’.
