Yeah “The People’s Republic of the Park Slope Food Cult”

One of the receiving coordinators once said to me “People come in here from other cities asking how they can replicate this place in their town. We always tell them forget it, you never will. The whole thing is a giant mistake. It shouldn’t have ever happened.”

What he means is the precise conditions of Park Slope Brooklyn in 1972 are non-repeatable. I don’t care what anyone in NYC says about Park Slope “just like the suburbs” (My Ass!)

This little ‘hood and that crazy little grocery store are an authentic utopia.

Is it just me, or is there a sort of irony that the all-natural, wonder-resource store has flourescent lights as its sign?
