  1. The Bert and Ernie made my morning.

    crazy mudboy track
sounds like one of those rare live albums…
do you know which one? What does it look like.

  3. bryan says:

hey E Tan — if the B&E made my morning, the mix has made my afternoon. I love how it goes from nice and easy at the beginning to blissed static by the end. I agree with mysterious traveller — the mudboy is worth singling out, and it is crazy.

Most of this stuff I’ve never heard of — and then there’s the Plant & Krauss spot in the middle. Something you can buy at Starbucks. I got it last week after hearing it at your house and damn, if it’s not a pleasant record. Who knew?

I’ve also been trying to figure out that Sic Alps groove since you gave the 7″ to me for xmas. Is it 90s revival? Nirvana? Or older — sonic youth? whatever it is, it’s grown on me.

thanks again. when i downloaded it, two dozen others had already gone before me. what did the rest of youse think?

  4. bryan says:

ps — i love how generically diverse the mix is too. how we gonna get you hooked up with an FMU show?

  5. lane says:

That clip is so the summer ’04.

  6. E. Tan says:

Yeah, the Mudboy track is from the Flying Llamas Tour EP. It’s a CDR that I picked up from this guy who runs a mail order next door to me called fusetron. Sic Alps is on the Not Not Fun label… which releases a bunch of new noise and ambient bands. If you ask me, this stuff is next on the hip hip radar. There’s a huge scene around this sound and definitely comes from Sonic Youth, Yo La Tengo and the like.

The mix is sort of a day time / night time split. When I put my ipod on in the morning, I usually get to where I’m going by the time track 10 hits. When I’m on my way home at night, I conveniently have 10-13 for the train ride home. Nice and mellow. Cat nip.

yeah lane, i’m so far behind with my youtube clips. but i’m just keepin it real.

  7. Tim Wager says:

E.Tan, I downloaded this this morning but haven’t had a chance to listen yet. Looking forward to it!

Not Not Fun = one more reason LA’s on the rise, baby.

  8. lane says:

No no E-tan, you’re not late, it just reminded me of that period of my life.

    Kids and weird psych-out jams.

Two great tastes that taste great together.

  9. Dave says:

Ha! I listened for the second time this morning and got through track 10 when the elevator opened to my office.

Some very good tracks. The Angelite is weird and haunting.

our local NPR station was giving away the plant/krauss to donors during their annual fundraiser this morning.
