Four years ago, we in California were euphoric when Obama was declared the victor over McCain. Our joy lasted about 20 minutes, until we got news that Proposition 8 had passed, removing the right to marry.
What a difference four years make. Thank you, Barack Obama, for coming out in favor of same-sex marriage. And thank you, voters of Maryland, Minnesota, Maine and Washington state, for upholding our right to equal treatment.
Woo-hoo! And a shout-out from Wisconsin for Tammy Baldwin!
Here (NZ) in the local paper there was a poll about how we felt about your election results. Options were : Relief, Disappointed, Neutral. Which speaks volumes I think, particularly since Relief was running at 74%. (Disappointment at 10%.)
But the great thing is, that with another 4 years, the changes seen over the past 4 will become entrenched. And that is something to celebrate I think!
yay for marriage equality! C’mon, California, get with it!
I’m not sure I’d *want* to see the inner workings of the opposition, but, supposedly the filmmakers followed both sides of the issue in Maine. Anyone seen “Question One?” http://www.q1-themovie.com. (not sure how to do the link thing). It says screenings are coming soon to LA.
Feels good to be a Washingtonian.
You’re welcome! It was so satisfying to see that the opposition was so outclassed.
