How I spent my summer

Inspired by the return of BW to these parts, I hereby resume posting at TGW after a brief hiatus. And in the spirit of his post, here’s what’s been going on with me.

In June, I ate some doughnuts.

I also went back to my university for the first time in years, and I was moved to re-create the most ignominious moment of my rec-league flag football officiating career, when I inadvertently blew the whistle as a frat boy was running for a touchdown, nearly inciting a riot among the two competing fraternity teams. I barely escaped with my life.

I saw the image of a screaming Mother Teresa in my latte.

I went to Krustyland.

I went to the beach and saw people acting like monkeys.

And then I got a henna tattoo.

I went to the La Brea Tar Pits, my favorite spot in all of Los Angeles.

RB and I celebrated our second anniversary in a hotel room designed to look like a cave.

We dined in a steak house with pink banquettes and Christmas-tree decor.

And we hung out at the pool.

How was your summer?

That hotel room designed to look like a cave is exquisite. And I’m glad that posting summer photos was contagious.

    Screaming Mother Teresa!!!

I want to go to the beach. And to wherever that cement pond is. But maybe not the cave hotel.

Yay, Krusty dougnhuts and coffee with tarry ring tattoos in a cave-like pool Christmas setting! Everything! All the time!

    Thanks for sharing, LP.

I really can’t get over those pink banquettes. So romantic! (Almost as romantic as…a cave?) Highlight of the summer, no doubt.

2: I shall never shout “Holy mackerel!” again. Now it will be “Screaming Mother Teresa!”

1, 3, 4: The cave room, pink banquettes and pool are all in the same place: the one and only Madonna Inn. Be sure to scroll down this list of rooms — all 110 of them are completely different! — to see which fabulous theme you would choose.

Barrel of Fun? Fabulous Fifties? Krazy Dazy? Swiss Belle? What’s your pleasure?
