The signpainter could have gotten the spacing right if they’d used the American spelling.
Strangely, I never thought that it could be “glamor”. Apparently, many people agree. We don’t go in for “honour” or “colour” in this country, but we sure do dig “glamour.”
This has so many metaphor possibilities, I don’t know where to start. The simple and stark door to glamour? The slip resistant mat? The crazy devil red painted by a child sign? The bars? The Pipe? The glittery Babylon sin you know lies just beyond. Don’t go behind that door, kids. There is only darkness there . . . Stay plain like the Amish.
Oh yeah, “glamor” looks weird. But “glamour” is too British. I vote for “glammer.”
