Stella on the Eastern Shore

Stella spent last weekend on the Eastern Shore of Virginia near Modest Town.  It’s the southern part of DelMarVa for Washingtonian beach mavens.  It’s about 80 miles north of Norfolk, Virgina.  Stella went to university in Norfolk, England.  The two areas are eerily similar.  Flat and marshy.  Sparsely populated.  Subtly beautiful.

Thanks you, Stella, for such a calm and lovely post this morning. I love the seashore in Autumn. Did your fingers hurt just a little bit from the cold when you were snapping these photos? I can almost hear the wind inside my hoodie!

That top photo looks like a painting. I love the deserted beach and marshland… really beautiful, and so restful looking!

Great pics! I don’t think I’ve ever seen mushrooms growing on a beach. Weird and intriguing. Thanks for sharing!

Yeah – mushrooms on the beach?! That’s crazy! I’m also amazed at all the intact seashells, and especially the intact prehistoric sea-creature shells! Please post sounds and scents too. ;)
